What are the CFA Program requirements?

To qualify for the award of the CFA charter, candidates must meet the following requirements set by the CFA Institute:


  1. Pass All Three Levels of the CFA Exam


• Successfully complete CFA Level I, Level II, and Level III exams in sequence.


• Exams are administered multiple times each year, but candidates must pass each level before advancing to the next.


• A minimum of 6 months is required between exam attempts.


  1. Accumulate Relevant Work Experience


• Earn at least 4,000 hours of professional work experience over a minimum of 36 months.


• Qualifying work must directly relate to the investment decision-making process or contribute value to that process. Full-time, part-time, and remote work may qualify.


  1. Provide Professional References


• Submit two to three professional references as part of your application.


  1. Meet Membership Requirements


• Join CFA Institute and become a member of a local CFA Society chapter.


  1. Adhere to Ongoing Compliance


• Comply with CFA Institute’s policies, professional standards, and ethics after earning the charter.


  1. Possess a Valid International Passport


• A valid passport is required for enrollment and exam registration.
